My family has lived in Lakeland for nearly 10 years. Initially, it was just my husband, our kids and myself. My mom & dad, once snowbirds, soon moved to Lakeland full-time and were followed by my two sisters and their families. We all agree that Polk County has blessed us.
Over the years I have grown to know the community and its leaders through involvement in United Way, Leadership Lakeland, Leadership Polk, various civic organizations, professional organizations, the faith community and of course, my childrens academic and extra-curricular pursuits. Polk County has so much to offer. We have a lot to be proud of!
I am the mom of two non-traditional learners, finding an academic home for them has been a challege. As they advanced in school it got even harder. The birth of Student Solutions, Inc. and Solution Academy was necessitated when I realized- I was not alone.
It is my sincere desire to use my professional experience and strong education partners to meet the academic needs of these "grey area" students. Solutions Academy offers a program designed to reduce student & family frustration, build student confidence and advance academic skills through individualized curriculum.

I was raised in Mulberry, Florida, and now live in Lakeland, FL. I have been married to my husband for 24 years. We have three children: Charlie (22), Annslee (14), and Waylon (6). Yes, that is a big gap. Charlie was diagnosed with Selective Mutism at the age of 3. This sent me on a journey of learning about children with special needs. I graduated from Post University with a master's in Curriculum and Instruction; I am working on my doctorate in General Education. I have been in education for the past 19 years. My passion is to help students learn in a variety of ways realizing we do not know in the same way or at the same time I want students to learn and grow and achieve success.

I lived in Ohio for 51 years before my husband, Ernie, and I joined our 3 daughters in Florida. We have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. My husband and I are lifetime educators, Ernie retired as a middle school guidance counselor in Ohio. I was Teacher and then Director of Trinity United Methodist Preschool/Day Care in our hometown for 20 years. After moving to Lakeland, I began teaching at Karen M. Siegel Academy where I taught for 18 years. I “retired” from KMSA to teach at Student Solutions where I have been for the past 8 years. I am a two time Teacher of the Year- in Ohio and at Karen M. Siegel Academy. I love teaching because it gives me a chance to make a lasting difference in students’ lives.
